This preparatory drawing was submitted to Allen and Unwin and the Tolkien Estate for their comments prior to painting the finished artwork for publication. The drawing is in good condition considering this was a working drawing and constantly referred to as the painting was in progress.
The drawing is signed, dated and is embossed with the Lakeside Gallery logo.
